Northern Powergrid propose to rebuild the existing 11kV overhead line that supplies High Farm & High Cottage and other users at Aldburgh Estate at Masham near Ripon. The main reason for the proposal is due to a customer request to be supplied with 2 X 55kVA three phase connections for High Farm and High Cottage at Aldburgh, Ripon HG4 4DL. They plan to install Ground Source Heat Pumps and electric vehicle chargers which require an increased three phase supply of electricity. The existing single-phase supply already in place is not suitable for delivering this request. We propose building a new three phase overhead line in parallel with the existing single-phase line. There is small deviation away from the existing line as a more efficient and suitable route can be achieved without going through the middle of an arable field. Once work is complete and the new line energised, we will dismantle the existing single-phase lines currently in position. The new overhead line will carry three 50mm AAAC cables compared which is one additional cable compared to the existing power line. There will be 2 less poles required in the new scheme due to the increased span length of the proposed equipment. The proposed new line is a total of 1.93Km in length and begins at Pole 4 at OS grid reference SE2379379724 and terminates at OS grid reference point SE2346579186. Please see accompanying plan for full details of route and overview of area of works. We propose to remove a total of 2 poles compared to existing structure due to the increased span length of the proposed line. Planning permission is required as there will be a third conductor added and visible on this line. This work is not covered by the Overhead Line Exemption Regs 2009.
